The Population Council Institute works with communities, health functionaries and other partners across India to create effective, sustainable, and systemic changes.
We identify evidence-informed programs and practices that work in specific contexts and generate data to support effective implementation. We use theoretical approaches to address implementation challenges and use evidence as core to the learning. We use context specific theories as we recognize that theories differ based on the assumptions, aims and characteristics of the challenges being addressed.
Our process is informed by the Active Implementation Frameworks that has a dual aim of providing hands-on support to implement and identify determinants that need to be analyzed. Among other aspects, the process includes ensuring comprehensive planning, providing time to engage the right people and institutions, allowing us to address key drivers, and iteratively refining initiatives for successful and sustainable implementation.
